Coffee by Wisteria Wren
Three old friends
Sitting around a table
Chatting about
Their sons,
Their daughters,
Their pride.
It had always been like that,
The three of them.
But five years passed…
Two old friends
Sitting around the table
Drinking coffee
Both of them
Noticed their friend's absence
But none of them
Pointed it out.
They did not know
How many days
They were left with themselves…
And five years passed.
One old man
Sitting at the table
Drinking coffee
He was the only one left
He thought of his friends,
The times when they sat at that very table
Together
And smiled
For the first time in days.
For he knew
That he would be seeing them very soon…
And five years passed.
Three old friends
Sitting around the table
Drinking coffee
But this time
It was not the old man and his friends
It was their sons.
